Abstract Paintings

Impressed by Cubism and American Abstract Expressionism, I’ve always enjoyed exploring abstraction. My abstract paintings fall into different categories.

Cricket Paintings: I loved to play cricket and use this as a subject for my abstract paintings.  Generally, the focus is on the bowler, the batsman, the speed, rhythm and intensity of the moment, contrasted with the long repetitive day that is relieved only by an occasional dog or pigeon wandering onto the pitch. In all my work the appearance of timelessness plays a part.

Tree House Abstracts: I’ve been fascinated with tree houses since I was a child and even as an adult, I love to imagine building them. Neither a tree nor a house, these pictures play with ambiguous space, suggesting danger, safety, busyness and peace.
